Voices of the Faithful ~ Book 2 - A BookSneeze Review

I recently received Voices of the Faithful - Book 2, Inspiring Stories of Courage from Christians Serving Around the World from Book Sneeze to review. This book has 366 daily devotionals from missionaries around the globe.

The book starts out with a really nice Introduction by Beth Moore. A lot of times I skim through the introductions because I am anxious to get to the book. This time however I enjoyed reading that too!

Now I am not finished with this book because I am excited to use it as it is intended to be, a daily devotional. But for the sake of reviewing it, I have sampled a number of days.

Each day is only one page. Perfect for me since I find myself struggling to find time for devotions and anything longer - I  just would fail. That said - it is in no way a cheap little thing, these are great stories from Missionaries that teach a nice point. I have already called my mom on the phone to share some with her homegroup in mind. Some of these things would be great discussion illustrations for sermons or bible studies.

Every day is labeled with the date, January 1 - December 31. Following is a scripture verse, then a short devotional story, ending with a prayer. I am happy to review that this is not a dry book. Sometimes Missionary stories are hard for me to relate to because my passion is not for the same calling. I find myself zoned out as someone might when I talk about homeschooling. But that is ok because God stirs in each of us what he plants as a passion and a calling. This book was not like that. The stories were things EVERYONE can gain from.

You can use this devotional in a few ways. One to gain for yourself a closer walk with God and a little lesson learned. But at the end of each page is the author(Missionary)  who submitted the devotion. The book is also intended for you to pray for those missionaries. What an honor. This is a tool that helps you in your own ministry in the kingdom of God.

I am very excited I chose this book to review as it is a really nice book that will get used over and over for sure!

Now the official stuff...
